Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Integrate the latest advances in HIV diagnostics and therapeutics into interdisciplinary clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
  2. Critically appraise current HIV treatment guidelines and apply evidence-based strategies to optimize antiretroviral therapy across diverse patient populations.
  3. Identify and address the intersection of HIV with comorbidities such as hepatitis, tuberculosis, cardiovascular disease, mental health, and substance use.
  4. Evaluate the impact of social determinants of health and stigma on HIV prevention, testing, adherence, and long-term care engagement
  5. Apply principles of culturally competent and trauma-informed care when working with patients from varied racial, sexual, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  6. Describe current and emerging biomedical prevention strategies (PrEP, PEP, U=U, perinatal prevention, vaccines in development) and their role in reducing HIV transmission.
  7. Explore ethical and policy considerations in HIV treatment and prevention, including confidentiality, criminalization, and equitable access to care.
  8. Develop actionable approaches to reduce disparities and advance health equity in HIV care at individual, institutional, and community levels.
