Overview
The University of Florida in Jacksonville has a large referral base from area clinicians to a growing Nephrology group at the University of Florida College of Medicine at UF Health [Medical Center] Jacksonville. The UF Nephrology Group in Jacksonville currently has 8 full time Nephrologists each with their own special clinical and research expertise. The UF Faculty along with invited speakers will present information important to local clinicians with respect to optimizing management of patients with renal disease they may see in their practices. The presentations will also provide educational material which will allow participants to better understand the disease processes in these patients. The Update In Nephrology and Hypertension will provide 5 CME credit hours for participants who stay for the entire conference (including the Q & A luncheon). Important educational needs or clinical gaps to fill will be addressed by including the following topics for presentation: - Proteinuria as a Marker of Cardiovascular Disease - Evaluation and Management of Adult Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) - Update in Kidney Transplantation - Lupus Nephritis - Redefining Treatment Goals - Management of Anemia of CKD - Early Vs Late Initiation of Dialysis in Stage 5 CKD - Controversy - Use of Diuretics - Short Vignettes - Management of Nephrolithiasis

  1. Identify the relationship between proteinuria and cardiovascular disease
  2. Learn use of diuretics in different clinical scenarios
  3. Understand newer developments in kidney transplantation
  4. Understand how to evaluate, manage, and treat Adult Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD)
  5. Learn how to differentiate and treat the various causes of nephrolithiasis
  6. Learn how to diagnose and manage the variables in anemia of chronic kidney disease (CKD)
  7. Learn Early vs late initiation of dialysis in stage 5 CKD - Controversy
  8. Learn the newer treatment goals for patients with lupus nephritis
