Quality Improvement in Action: Concepts and Case Highlights from UF

The Faculty Development Educational Series consists of 4, 1 credit hour courses intended for faculty, Residents, and Fellows within the College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry covering topics such as QI Patient Safety, Teaching, Wellness/Self-Care, and Patient Care. The program is to be held at UF Psychiatric Hospital, Room 1901, with virtual watch parties tuning in from the McKnight Brain Institute, L4-101, and AOPC, Room 3242, and does not have commercial support. The presenters are faculty in the COM and psychiatric community.


AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance Certificate (1.00 hours)

1. Define the core principles of Quality Improvement (QI) and describe the key components of common QI methodologies, such as PDSA cycles, root cause analysis, and SMART aim statements
2. Analyze real-world QI projects conducted at UF to understand practical strategies for problem identification, intervention design, and outcome measurement
3. Outline the steps required to initiate and sustain a QI project, including team formation, data collection, and ongoing evaluation
