Foundations of Biomedical Informatics

This 45-minute course will discuss the fundamentals of the data and information systems that support clinical care, considerations of human cognition in developing these information systems, and new sources of data generation and transformation that are advancing the support biomedical informatics provides to the clinical care process.


AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (0.75 hours), Non-Physician Attendance Certificate (0.75 hours)

1. Enumerate the various types of information systems in biomedicine.
2. Understand the basic principles of information and their impact on data collection and processing.
3. Identify the role of biomedical informatics in healthcare.
4. Recognize current trends and challenges in the field of biomedical informatics.

The University of Florida College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Credit Designation
