Overview
Burn Reconstruction Rounds is an hour-long monthly multidisciplinary conference. It provides a forum for clinicians and allied health professionals interested in or participating in the care of burn patients to attain new knowledge, be exposed to contemporary reconstruction strategies, and learn how to prioritize treatment in the realms of surgery, therapy, and social support. The recurrent live conference fosters a true multidisciplinary approach to the care of the burn patient with the inclusion of learner participation in case discussions, participation of physician and non-physician experts, use of visual aids and media, review of prior case outcomes, and review of relevant contemporary literature.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), ABS CC (1.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance Certificate (1.00 hours)

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify risk factors in the development of burn scar contracture.
  2. Contrast burn scar contracture development with non-burn injured tissue characteristics.
  3. Summarize the contemporary strategies of burn reconstruction surgery (autologous tissue, skin substitutes, laser burn scar therapy).
  4. Prescribe the most recently evaluated skin substitute and tissue matrix products to current reconstructive cases.
  5. Prioritize surgery, physical and occupational therapy, or social interventions as applied to challenging cases.

The University of Florida College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
