John Lieb, MD, FASGE

Dr. Lieb is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Florida and Gainesville VA Medical Center.  Some of his interests include the early diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis (especially by using the classical secretin stimulation test and other modalities) pancreatic exocrine insufficiency and pancreatic enzyme replacement, genetic GI disorders, pancreatic tumors/cysts/cancer, endoscopic quality, and precancerous diseases of the GI tract. He also helped to develop the American Pancreatic Association (APA) Guidelines on the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis in 2013-2014. Dr. Lieb served on the ASGE Quality in Endoscopy Committee from 2011-2014 and helped to develop many of the endoscopic quality measures published during that timeframe for ASGE, AGA and ACG He served as the Director of Endoscopy at Hahnemann Hospital/Drexel University from 2015-2016, as the Chief Endoscopic Quality Officer for Hahnemann/Drexel from 2016-2020 and as the Director of Advanced endoscopy 2015-2020 at Hahnemann/Drexel. Dr. Lieb has been a codirector of the National Pancreas Foundation Fellows Symposium since 2009 and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Pancreas Foundation (NPF) since 2015Dr. Lieb was an NPF fellow attendee for the first NPF fellows symposium in Dedham, Mass in April 2006, along with Tim Gardner, Bechien Wu, Andres Gelrud, Ken Fascinella, and Dan Mullady.  He was the Gastroenterology Fellowship Teacher of the Year, UF Gainesville FL in 2022.
